1972 Thikole 2100B Snow Groomer Rescue Project Nov 2021
Surgery Complete on big red now starting to put it all back together...
- Managed to get things set up to pull the motor out of the groomer Sunday after prepping it earlier in the summer. Plan was to swap the motor and transmission with the spare set but wasn't able to get the spare one rebuilt.
- Plan "B" was put together to avoid the groomer being down for a third season, at least not with out a fight. The focus would be to pull the motor and transmission out of the groomer to install a replacement oil pan and figure out why the automatic transmission was not locking when put into park. Over the last couple of the days work was focused on the transmission and found the park linkage was removed. Robbed parts pull parts from the spare unit along with the gaskets and seals needed.
- Found transmission clutch band assembly was out of place.
- Added transition switch module shift lever sensor indicates neutral/park and reverse. allowing back up beeper.
- With slightly warmer temps got the shop lights out and head lamp and completed the final assembly to get things buttoned up and wrapped a little after 9, it was like a marathon session when trying to get a race car back together the final race after something letting go in the last lap of the heat.
- Good thing was with the motor pulled found a few bolts were missing. Track them down and clean up the undercarriage area on Friday and get in all place back in and start the process of getting it all hooked back up.
